A Stunning Gut Rehab Project Blends Island Style with High-Performance Innovation
A Platinum Standard, Island Style
We’re thrilled to share yet another impressive project by Mike Fairall and the Mokulua HPB team – their latest LEED Platinum-certified home is officially in the books! What sets this home apart from many other high-performance builds is that it wasn’t a new construction – it was a complete gut rehab.
Rebuilt to Last
Rather than starting from scratch, the project team thoughtfully reused the majority of the existing framing, siding, and roofing. That sustainable approach alone makes this home stand out. But it didn’t stop there.
Performance That Speaks Volumes
A high-efficiency SEER ductless system, low solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) windows, and a robust solar array with energy storage all helped drive this home’s performance to the next level. The result? An impressive -9 HERS score and 85 out of 110 possible points in the LEED for Homes workbook.
LEED-ing the Way in Hawai’i
Kudos to Mike and the Mokulua HPB crew for another stellar project that blends high performance with island charm. Mahalo for leading the way!
